FW 2001 “What a Merry-Go-Round” Smoke Houndstooth Knit Wool Pants
Size IT 42
A rare pair of Alexander McQueen trousers from Fall/Winter 2001, “What a Merry-Go-Round”, one of the house’s most haunting and theatrical early-2000s collections.
Made in Italy in 100% wool, the trousers feature a smoky houndstooth motif in shades of black, blue, pale grey and off-white, created directly through the knit construction rather than printed on the surface.
Cut in a straight-leg silhouette, the piece balances tailoring and textile experimentation: a structured waistband, slashed side-seam pockets, zipper fly with hook closure, interior button fastening, and partial front lining stopping around knee level. The blurred, almost spectral check pattern gives the trousers a strong archival presence, very representative of McQueen’s ability to make classic menswear codes feel unstable, romantic and cinematic.
Great overall condition.
Slight marks inside the lining.
