An elegant two-piece cashmere knit set from Hermès during Jean Paul Gaultier’s tenure, composed of a sleeveless crew-neck top and a relaxed deep V-neck cardigan designed to be layered together.
Worked entirely in exceptionally soft 100% cashmere, the ensemble is rendered in a warm ecru tone and built around contrasting proportions.
The sleeveless underlayer is relatively clean and close to the body, while the cardigan is deliberately more generous, with dropped shoulders, elongated sleeves and an exceptionally deep V neckline that exposes the upper layer beneath.

The two-piece construction strongly recalls the layered knitwear vocabulary developed at Hermès under Martin Margiela, where deceptively simple garments were frequently conceived as coordinated layers rather than conventional standalone knits.

Both pieces are extremely understated, with fine-gauge knitting, minimal finishing and no decorative hardware, placing the emphasis entirely on material, layering and silhouette. The set can be worn together as originally intended or separated into two highly versatile pieces.
