Rare blue moleskin costume suit from the Opéra de Paris costume ateliers, made for the opera production Billy Budd. The internal label references the role Tambour, giving the piece a strong documented stage provenance.

The set is composed of a cropped Napoleonic-style jacket and matching pont-style trousers. The jacket features a high stand collar, a strong military-inspired front, metal dome buttons, structured seams, elongated cuffs with button details and back skirt / tail panels. The trousers are cut in matching blue 1960s French moleskin, with a high waist, straight leg, buttoned pont-style front and back belt detail.

A striking theatrical set with a strong historical / military silhouette, somewhere between opera costume, workwear moleskin and archival tailoring.
Condition

Great overall condition for a theatrical costume piece.
Light signs of wear, soft fading, surface marks and natural moleskin patina throughout, consistent with stage use and age.
