Rare silk costume blouse from the Opéra de Paris costume ateliers, made for the opera production Da gelo a gelo. The internal label references the production, the role “Faux Prince”, and the name Kagi, giving the piece a strong documented stage provenance.

The blouse is cut in a dramatic kimono-inspired silhouette, with very wide cape-like sleeves, an asymmetric wrap front and a rich fuchsia / magenta silk body. The sleeve edges are finished with contrasting pink bands and bronze-toned decorative stripes, creating a refined theatrical effect. A beautiful piece of opera costume design, somewhere between Japanese ceremonial dress, contemporary stage costume and sculptural silk blouse.

The opera is inspired by the Journal of the Japanese poet Izumi Shikibu, giving the piece an especially evocative cultural and theatrical context.
