A refined Spring/Summer 2009 Yves Saint Laurent blazer, dating from the Stefano Pilati era and distinguished by its unusual hybrid construction combining formal tuxedo tailoring with a softer knitted back.

The front is cut from lustrous black silk with a subtle satin finish, giving the jacket the polished appearance of classic eveningwear. It features an elongated shawl-style lapel, a single-button closure, flap pockets at the hips and a small welt chest pocket. The deep neckline and fluid surface of the silk create a particularly elegant, minimal silhouette.

The construction changes dramatically at the back, where the smooth tailored silk is replaced by a contrasting matte knitted fabric. This juxtaposition gives the jacket a more relaxed feel from behind while preserving the sharp tuxedo character of the front.
The slightly shortened sleeves further lighten the proportions and reinforce the understated eveningwear character of the piece.
