A rare Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche jacket from the Spring/Summer 1977 Spanish collection, a season in which Saint Laurent explored Spanish dress through cropped jackets, bolero-inspired shapes, decorative braid, folkloric detailing and sharply defined silhouettes.

The structure is simple and straight, but the entire piece is articulated by contrasting cream-and-brown braided passementerie outlining the round neckline, front opening, armholes, patch pockets, cuffs and hem. The decoration gives the jacket a distinctly Iberian character while preserving the ease and practicality of the Rive Gauche line.
The jacket is cut with a collarless neckline, straight body, relaxed sleeves and two large front patch pockets. Rounded brown buttons continue the restrained tonal palette, allowing the braided trim to become the principal decorative element.
